Hon. Erkki Nghimtina was born on 16 September 1948, at Eembidi, Ohangwena Region and now resides in Windhoek .

He has been the Minister of Mines and Energy since 2005. Minister of Defence (1997 -2005). Deputy Minister of Defence (1995-1997). Assistant Director of Communications in the NDF (1990-1995).
