Hon. Dr. Albert Kawana is the current Minister of Presidential Affairs and Acting Attorney-General.
Prior to that Dr Kawana was the Minister of Justice (2003-2005) and the Deputy Minister of Justice (2000 - 2003).
In addition he served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice since 1990.
He Lectured at the United Nations Institute for Namibia , Department of Legal Affairs from 1988 - 1990.
Dr Kawana was a member of the SWAPO Party Central Committee, Secretariat and is the Deputy Secretary of the SWAPO Party's Legal Affairs.
In addition, he is a member of the SWAPO Party Drafting Committee for the Party's constitution.
Dr. Kawana holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Law (PhD) ( University of Warwick - England ), Masters of Law (LL.M) ( University of Warwick - England ),
a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) ( University of Warwick - England ) and a Diploma in Development Studies and Management (United Nations Institute for Namibia - Zambia).
